The total area of the foundation pit of the Phase IV expansion project of Pudong International Airport is about 340,000 m³, the general excavation depth is about 18.6-30.7 m, and the maximum excavation depth is about 36.7 m. It is currently the largest deep foundation pit project in China. 

In the foundation pit project, a series of green, energy-saving and environmentally friendly new technologies such as underground diaphragm wall combined with ultra-deep and equal-thickness cement-soil mixing wall construction method suspended partition combination support, ultra-high pressure jet grouting, and DMP construction method are comprehensively adopted.

Before the excavation of the foundation pit in the rail transit area of the proposed site, the shallow part of the site needs to be unloaded and sloped. The width of the unloading platform in the site is about 10m. DMP (micro-disturbance four-axis cement mixing pile) process, the total construction area of the mixing pile is about 24500㎡, the pile diameter is 850@650mm, the pile depth is 29.5m, the cement content is 13%, after the micro-disturbance mixing pile is piled, it will be placed in the pile Insert H700×300mm section steel, the length of section steel is 15m, a total of 1410 pieces.

The project requires that the mixing pile has little disturbance to the surrounding soil, the verticality is not greater than 1/250, the wall position deviation is not greater than 50mm, the wall thickness deviation is not greater than 20mm, and the wall depth and wall thickness must not have negative deviations.

Due to the narrow site and tight construction schedule, there are many cross-constructions and the ground conditions are complex. On both sides are rainwater pipes, sewage pipes and gas pipes, all of which need to be protected, which puts forward extremely high requirements for construction technology and equipment performance.
